Course description:
This program incorporates flexibility in structure in order that students may develop their individual potential as future art educators in a variety of roles. Professional experience placements are undertaken in primary and secondary schools, and other educational, community, cultural and industry based settings, including a full session professional experience internship. This program prepares students to function as a visual arts and design teacher in secondary schools, primary schools, community organisations, museums and galleries, as a curriculum development officer, designer, artist, art and design historian/theorist/critic. The opportunity exists within the course for students to focus on any of these roles.
Entry requirements:
Students from Africa should have a minimum of two GCE "A" level or West African "A" Level subjects at one sitting. Indian students must have best four academic subjects from the All India Senior Secondary School Certificate or completion of the Indian School Certificate (Grade 12). Malaysian students must have a minimum of two academic STPM "principal" level subjects at one sitting. Students from Pakistan should have a bachelor degree or one of the international qualifications such as IB and A levels as listed. Singaporean students should have a minimum of two academic GCE "A" level subjects at one sitting and students from USA must have undertaken SATs (Math and Verbal) or ACTs and provide proof of graduation from High School. They should also satisfy the following English Language requirements: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall with a minimum score of 6.0 in each of the sub-tests of speaking, listening, reading and writing; TOEFL (IBT): 90 overall with a minimum score of 24 in writing; TOEFL (PBT): 577 overall with a minimum score of 5.0 in the Test of Written English (TWE); Combined Universities Language Test (CULT): 70 overall with a minimum score of 17.0 in each of the sub-tests of speaking, listening, reading and writing and UNSW Institute of Languages University English Entry Course (UEEC): successful completion of the UEEC with a grade of C+ (grade point 7.0) and a minimum score of 20 in the writing component.

Students currently completing an Australian Year 12 (either in Australia or offshore), NZ NCEA Level 3 qualification or the International Baccalaureate in Australia must apply through Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). Other students should send the completed application form along with certified copies of original documents, including academic transcripts from high school and any post-secondary study as well as original copies of English language test results and an application fee of $100 to The University of New South Wales, The Direct Admissions Office, UNSW, Sydney, 2052, Australia.
